The Strain Page#

In the strain detail view, all data belonging to one particular strain is listed.

In a header at the top, basic information about the identity of the strain are given. Here users can find the BacDive ID, the information whether this is the type strain of the species, the strain designation and different culture collection numbers of the strain, its NCBI taxononmy identifier, information on affiliation with BacDive special collections, and links to external resources.

Show all view and section view#

When landing on a strain detail page, the default Show all view opens. In this view, all data on the strain is displayed on one page in a compact form.

Sections

Thematic sections of BacDive strain data can be clicked to open the section view.

The detailed data are structured according thematic sections, like 'Name and taxonomic classification', 'Morphology', 'Culture and growth conditions', etc. Users can choose to view data in a less compact section view by clicking on the respective section names below the header.

Empty fields are not shown

On a strain detail page, only data fields for which information is available are displayed. When fields or whole sections are empty, they are not shown. Empty sections cannot be opened in section view.

Non-curated and predicted data#

Non-curated data, like metabolism information that was taken from API test strips or sequence accessions that were automatically matched to the strain are marked by a textmining icon.

Textmined data

Textmined data

The 'AI' icon indicates traits that were predicted for the strain based on its genome by artificial intelligence models that were trained using curated data from BacDive. All the genome based predictions can additionally be found in the predictions section with more information on models and confidences. The prediction section can also be reached by clicking the AI icon next to a predicted data point.

References#

Each data field in BacDive is linked with the reference displayed the information comes from. When clicking on the reference number, the user is taken to the respective source in the References tab.
